The Naglieri General Ability Tests

The Naglieri General Ability Tests- Verbal (Naglieri-V: Naglieri & Brulles, 2021), Naglieri General Ability Tests- Nonverbal (Naglieri-NV, Naglieri, 2021), and Naglieri General Ability Tests- Quantitative (Naglieri-Q: Naglieri & Lansdowne, 2021) were designed to remove cultural influences, allow students to solve problems regardless of the language they speak, and significantly reduce the amount of formal knowledge required so tests measure how well students 'think', rather than what students 'know'. 

Test directions, content, and student verbal responses are often obstacles for some gifted students. We created general ability tests that have verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal content without (a) test questions that require knowledge, (b) the use of a specific language, (c) instructions that demand verbal comprehension, and (d) without requiring a student to respond verbally.

Test directions are provided using language-free animated instructions to allow the students to understand the format regardless of language and cultural influences so the tests measure general ability as fairly and equitably as possible. 

The three tests were specifically designed to measure thinking (i.e., general ability) with minimum influence of knowing. All the test questions require a student to recognize the relationships among pictures, shapes, or numbers to arrive at the correct answer. All three of these tests reflect how well a student can solve the test questions with minimal requirement of knowledge.


The Naglieri General Ability Tests online portal automatically scores students' performance using local norms, providing school administrators with multiple scoring options at the click of a button.
